I just hope the new minister will not be bogged down by the intermittent crisis in the industry. She has spent more time acting as a diplomatic envoy than as an executive Minster, due to the myriad of problems inherited on assumption of office.
It is fair enough to give the airlines three years to pay their outstanding debts to the agencies, provided the airlines will not renege again. Also the airlines must realize they all have a business plan that was submitted when applying for their respective AOC’s which encompasses operating cost that have become embarrassing debts to the operators and a clog in service delivery for the agencies.
The agencies who have been finding it difficult, getting their money had the wool removed from their eyes when the bailout package was announced sensing the me, myself and I attitude of the operators and the CBN.
The CBN, the custodian of the bailout package give a proviso of re-financing loans owned Nigerian banks while AON said they will use it to acquire spares and pay other operating cost to stay afloat while forgetting to mention outstanding debts to the agencies, which most definitely necessitated the recent grand alliance of CEO’s headed by the DG NCAA.
